The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Egypt, and JSPS-Cairo held a technical meeting on the innovations and demands for new technology in landmine detection in north Egypt regions. The meeting included scientific and technical presentations and discussion of Egyptian and Japanese Researchers in this area, and a field investigation at El Alamein on the Mediterranean coast. Profs. Motoyuki Sato, Jun Ishikawa, and Akira Hirose attended from Japan, and received Japan-Egypt Science and Technology Year Medals. The cooperation has just started toward practical collaborations in the following years. (Thank you, Gado-san!).
